10月3日(金)、麗澤瑞浪中学・高等学校の食堂にて、オーストラリアの海外姉妹校・SJPC(St John Paul College)の生徒たちとの交流最終日を迎えました。

今年の8月には、初めての学校教育旅行として、麗澤瑞浪の中学・高校生16名がオーストラリアのSJPCを訪問しました。現地で温かいおもてなしを受け、交流を深めた生徒たちが、今回はSJPCの生徒たちを日本に迎え入れました。9月29日から4日間にわたり、陸上競技大会への参加や授業への参加など、さまざまな活動を通じて両校の絆をさらに深めていきました。

そして迎えた最終日の夜、生徒たちは食事を囲みながら楽しいひとときを過ごしました。先生方と生徒による心のこもったスピーチの後には、日本とオーストラリア双方のダンスが披露され、会場は笑顔と笑い声に包まれました。最後には別れを惜しむ涙も見られ、温かな友情が感じられる感動的なフィナーレとなりました。

また、SJPCの生徒たちは、今回の滞在の思い出や感謝の気持ちを綴ったポスターを残してくれました。

「麗澤は、これまで訪れた中で最も温かく迎えてくれた場所の一つです。親切で楽しく、素敵な人たちに囲まれて過ごせたことに心から感謝しています。」「新しいことを教えてくれた生徒の皆さん、温かく迎えてくださった先生方、そして優しく支えてくれた寮の友人たち、本当にありがとうございました。」

短い期間ながら、互いに学び合い、心を通わせたこの時間は、生徒たちにとってかけがえのない思い出となりました。

A Farewell Filled with Friendship and Smiles

On Friday, October 3rd, students of Reitaku Mizunami Junior and Senior High School gathered in the school cafeteria to mark the final day of exchange with students from our Australian sister school, St John Paul College (SJPC).

Earlier this August, sixteen Reitaku Mizunami students took part in the school’s first overseas educational trip, visiting SJPC in Australia. There, they were warmly welcomed and experienced meaningful cultural exchange. This time, it was Reitaku Mizunami’s turn to host. From September 29th, SJPC students spent four days with us, joining athletic events, attending classes, and sharing daily life with our students.

On their final night, everyone came together for a farewell dinner filled with laughter and warmth. Heartfelt speeches from teachers and students were followed by dance performances from both Japan and Australia, filling the room with smiles and joy. As the evening drew to a close, some tears were shed — a moving finale to a week of friendship and connection.

Before leaving, SJPC students created a poster expressing their gratitude and reflections on the visit:

“Reitaku is one of the most welcoming places I have ever been. I’m so grateful to be here surrounded by amazing, kind, funny, beautiful people.”

“Thank you to all the students who have taught me new things, the staff who made me feel welcome, and the girls in the dorms who were so kind and supportive.”

Though the time together was short, the friendships formed and experiences shared will surely remain in everyone’s hearts as precious memories of international exchange.
